Fire investigators have determined the cause of a fire which displaced 8 people in Binghamton on Wednesday. The fire, which occurred on Thorp Street, is said to have been caused accidentally by a discarded cigarette. The circuit breaker in the basement of the building was damaged in the blaze resulting in loss of power for the residents. The lack of power is why the residents cannot stay in the building. The American Red Cross is continuing to assist those displaced.
