The Binghamton Press and Sun Bulletin eliminated 20 jobs this week. Newspaper officials say the company needed to reduce costs due to changes in its business model during the past several years. In an article published on the newspaper’s website, the president and publisher said that there goal was to emerge from the cuts with the least impact on readers, digital subscribers and advertisers. Cost cutting measures were also taken at the Elmira Star-Gazette and the Ithaca Journal, which are part of the same ownership group. The company’s article says that some of the jobs have been absorbed regionally by the group and other Gannett properties.
