Nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9’s ran a fundraiser through Groupon that allowed for seven Broome County police dogs to receive bullet and stab-proof vests. The vests cost $1,000, but police agencies in Binghamton and Johnson City say the cost is minimal when compared to the value the dogs offer to the force. All dogs working in the Binghamton and Johnson City Police Departments, as well as the Broome County Sheriff’s office, were equipped with the vests.
