A Binghamton summer youth program is looking for funding to maintain its summer job initiative. The Binghamton VINES program is looking for a three-year, $50,000 grant to fund its summer program, which provides 10 to 12 teens and young adults with summer jobs in urban farms and city gardens. The money would be used to hire more kids and provide supplies for the program from the Federal Housing and Urban Development Program. The current obstacle for VINES is regaining its tax exempt status. Without being tax-exempt, VINES is not eligible for the grant.
