A Dansville man is facing assault charges after he is accused of striking another man in the head with a large piece of wood in the Town of Union. The incident took place outside the Knight’s Inn on East Main Street in Union around 8 o’clock Monday night, where 50-year-old Benjamin Gordon Sr. was witnessed by police hitting the man with the wood. He was arraigned and taken to the Broome County jail without bail. The victim in the case was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Gordon is facing a felony count of second-degree assault. A number of other people involved in the fight, including Gordon’s son, Benjamin Jr., were charged with disorderly conduct, a violation.
