Broome County Executive Debbie Preston will be undergoing surgery next week in New York City. Preston announced in recent weeks that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, and now she will be going to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to have the upper left lobe of her lung removed on Monday. She will be spending most of the next week recovering at Sloan Kettering. Preston’s diagnosis came after two months of testing.
