A Queens man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in the Town of Fenton. On Saturday afternoon, police pulled over a 2002 Toyota for speeding on West Service Road, when they found one of the vehicle’s passengers, 27-year-old Mohamed Rumy Abdul-Jabbar, to be in possession of 1.7 pounds of high-grade marijuana in the backpack. The officer also found a plastic bag containing cocaine. Abdul-Jabbar is facing one count of criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a felony, and one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in the Town of Fenton Court and sent to the Broome County jail without bail, pending county court action. The driver, Abdul-Jabbar’s girlfriend, was ticketed for speeding and released.
