A large portion of downtown Owego was without power earlier this morning. Responding fire police say that a motor vehicle collided with a telephone pole on Central Avenue, causing a transformer to explode. Power was restored to North Avenue just after 5:30 this morning. Some other areas took longer to restore. The area near the accident was closed off for part of this morning, but is now reopened.
