A family lost five pets in a fire at a home in the Village of Owego yesterday afternoon. Owego, Tioga Center, Newark Valley, Apalachin and Campville fire departments responded to 93 West Ave around 2 p.m. A woman who lives there with her grandparents and a cousin was the only person home at the time, but she and a dog got out safely. Firefighters were not able to save the two dogs and three cats. An electrical wiring failure in the second story kitchen of the residence was found to be the cause of the fire.
