School District Budget Vote Day is Tuesday

Tuesday is Budget Vote Day for all school districts in New York, including the Waverly School District. They will be asking residents to consider a proposed spending plan of $31.6 million, which calls for a property tax levy increase of 2.99 percent. The district was one of the few in the state that had their proposal defeated last year and were forced to adopt a contingency budget. This year’s plan would keep district facilities free for community use and staffing levels the same. Additionally, the district is moving ahead with leasing all buses instead of purchasing them to save money. Five people are running for four school board seats. Voting will be held in the Middle School Lobby from 12-8pm Tuesday. The full budget newsletter is available on the Waverly School District website at waverlyschools.com.
