The Elmira Fire Department officially has a new leader.
Timothy Overly was sworn in as Elmira Fire Chief on Monday.
Overly served in the department for 27 years before stepping away in 2022.
He has also served as Deputy Fire Coordinator in Chemung County, as an instructor with the New York Fire Academy, assistant chief for the Community Fire and Rescue Company and a firefighter with the Big Flats Fire Department.
Overly is replacing Andrew Mallow who served the Elmira Fire Department for the past 27 years, including the last 3 ½ as its chief.
