Breesport man facing burglary, weapon charges

A Breesport man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Elmira home and threatened her with a firearm.

According to Elmira Police, the incident occurred at a residence on West Chemung Place late Monday night.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary and were told by the caller that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her.

The victim told police that 57-year-old Carlos Perez held a gun to her head and threatened to shoot her in front of her 7-year-old child.

Officers pulled over the suspect and allegedly found a handgun and ammunition inside the vehicle.

Perez has been charged with burglary as well as criminal possession of a weapon.

The investigation is ongoing.
