OWEGO, N.Y. — Tioga Opportunities Inc. has been awarded funding to continue providing volunteer services that support older adults throughout the Southern Tier.
The organization will receive $87,250 annually for the next three years to help sustain and expand its volunteer programs.
The funding will support services that help older adults remain independent, including transportation to medical appointments and home-delivered meals for those who are homebound.
Officials say the meal delivery program not only provides nutritious food but also offers regular wellness checks and social interaction for seniors.
The grant will also allow Tioga Opportunities to recruit, train, and support additional volunteers while expanding services for older adults across the region.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Tioga Opportunities Inc. by phone, visit the organization’s website, or follow its social media pages for more information.
