The Sayre Borough Council approved an amendment to the borough’s self-propelled vehicles ordinance in order to enhance juvenile safety.
The amendment mandates that kids under 18 riding an e-bike or scooter wear a helmet.
First offenders will be given a warning and a helmet. Second-time offenders will be issued a fine.
Borough residents whose children have an e-bike or scooter can reach out to the Sayre Police Department for a free helmet.
