A Bath couple has been charged with the death of their infant child.
According to Bath Police, 27-year-old Dakota J. Abeel and 23-year-old Jessica A. Abeel have been charged with criminal negligent homicide, which is a Class E felony.
The Bath Police Department and Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded along with EMS workers to a report of a 12-day old infant on March 18th.
First responders administered CPR before the infant was taken to a local hospital where the infant was pronounced dead.
An investigation revealed that the death was a result of negligence involving unsafe sleep arrangements for the infant.
The Abeels were processed and released to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.
